I am a little shocked that no one has been pestering me about if I am supposed to shave my head or not as a result of attendance at our SQL launch events last year. If you don’t know what I am talking about, read this….I’ll wait right here till you get back.

I just now (as in minutes ago) found the attendance data from those events. now, it isn’t like I have asked everyday or looked every day for the stats. I have fired off a few emails now and then asking about stats and getting routed here and there with no real data only to get distracted by something else and not give it much thought. I thought about it again last week, fired off another email, and finally received a link to a spreadsheet that gave me all the info I needed.

The results are…..I keep my hair.

The results weren’t even close. The event I referenced in my post was Anaheim, Ca. Since it is after 1am, I am not going to call my boss up and ask if I can post the actual attendance numbers. If someone wants to pester me for proof I will follow-up to see what I can do. But, the Anaheim event, while very well attended, was crushed by two other events in the US and was respectfully surpassed by 4 others. The closest event above mine beat Anaheim by 20 or so attendees. The big winner beat out Anaheim by over 1000 people.

It’s not like I want to shave my head (actually, I have always wanted to see what I would look like with a shaved head but have never stepped up to do it) but this wasn’t event fair in my opinion. I would have though all the events would be pretty close but there was a pretty good spread.

So I am going to come up with some other similar challenge soon with the penalty being the head gets shaved. Once I figure out a decent challenge I will get it posted.

Cheers!
